Math Tutoring with Eli Chastek

Patient, knowledgeable, Northampton area Math Tutor

In-Person or Online

I tutor Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Integrated Math, Precalculus, Calculus, and AP Calculus AB and BC.

I help students build off of what they already know, organize their thinking, make sense of math, study effectively, and improve their grades and test scores.

Though Math is my area of specialty, I also help students with Chemistry, Physics, and French.

I work with students who struggle to connect with math or need to build their number sense and fluency. I help students who feel behind or unprepared for high school to identify the areas they need to practice, and then I guide them through it.

I also help students who do not feel challenged by their current school work to find and explore areas of math that are interesting to them, or who want to learn Algebra 1 in middle school to get ahead.

I have 20 years combined experience teaching and tutoring, including Northampton High School and PVPA. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Smith College. I help students build confidence and find a way to see math that makes sense to them. I work well with students who are neurodivergent or anxious about math.

Currently I work for a small startup Civil Engineering company called Caesar Engineering and I work with students on Financial Assistance at Deerfield Academy.

I live in Northampton and can be found biking, paragliding, kiteboarding, and wing skating.

I have a flexible work schedule that allows me to meet with students any time that works for them, up to around 7:30pm at the latest. I am available Sunday through Thursday.

My standard rate for private tutoring is $120/hr. I work on a sliding scale so please don’t hesitate to ask if cost is a barrier. I also tutor students in small groups so that the cost can be shared.
